Dr. Sofie Schlagintweit

Dr. Schlagintweit was born and raised in the Fraser Valley. She received a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball for Arizona State University (2008-2012) while pursuing her academics. She was the captain of the Canadian Junior National Team and competed for the Canadian Senior National Volleyball team until a shoulder injury side-lined her on the volleyball court. Upon no longer being able to compete, Dr. Schlagintweit pivoted her focus towards achieving academic excellence with the goal of entering medical school. She graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of science, receiving multiple awards for academic achievement throughout her studies.

Dr. Schlagintweit completed medical school at University of Toronto (2012-2016) where she found her passion in plastic surgery through spending time at the Ross Tilley Burn Centre. She returned home to the University of British Columbia for her residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Sofie completed an aesthetic surgery and breast reconstruction fellowship in Kelowna before being hired by Fraser Health’s Plastic Surgery Group.

Dr. Sofie Schlagintweit is the daughter of Dr. Stefan Schlagintweit, a Plastic Surgeon practicing in Abbotsford for over 30 years. Sofie learned the demands associated with a plastic surgery practice early in her life, but also saw the beauty of a plastic surgery practice through fostering positive relationships and serving a community. She learned the importance of being down-to-earth, positive and approachable from her father.

Dr. Schlagintweit holds privileges at Langley Memorial Hospital (primary site) and Abbotsford Regional Hospital (secondary site). She performs both publicly covered (MSP) and aesthetic surgery.

our services

  • Dr. Schlagintweit and Dr. Noland hold privileges at Langley Memorial Hospital (primary site) and Abbotsford Regional Hospital (secondary site). They perform a variety of publicly covered (MSP) procedures. Patients are referred to both doctors by local healthcare providers. Some of the most common procedures performed include: breast surgery, hand surgery, surgical skin cancer management, general reconstructive surgery and trauma surgery.

  • Aesthetic/cosmetic plastic surgery involves procedures intended to improve or enhance normal appearance through surgical and nonsurgical techniques. Dr. Schlagintweit and Dr. Noland offer a full spectrum of plastic surgery procedures and services designed to meet your cosmetic or reconstructive goals.

The most common aesthetic/cosmetic procedures that Dr. Schlagintweit and Dr. Noland perform include:

Abdominoplasty ("tummy tuck"): reshaping and tightening of the abdominal wall. Usually involves removal of skin, tightening of the abdominal wall muscles, and oftentimes, some liposuction.

Benign Lesions: removal of benign lesions through excision that are not covered under the medical service plan.

Brachioplasty (“arm lift”): reshapes the back part of your upper arm, from your arm pit to your elbow. This surgery helps to remove extra skin and tissue to make your upper arm look smoother.

Blepharoplasty ("eyelid lift"): reshaping of the eyelids by the removal of excess skin and fat.

Breast augmentation ("breast implant"): augmentation of the breasts by means of fat grafting, saline breast implants, or silicone breast implants, to increase the size of the breasts.

Male Chest Contouring: removal of excess fat and glandular tissue to restore a flatter, firmer and more masculine contour to the chest.

Mastopexy ("breast lift"): lifting or reshaping of breasts to make them perkier and less saggy, often after weight loss or pregnancy.

Medial Thigh Lift: aims to improve the contour, shape and size of the thigh. More specifically, it is the inner or medial thigh that is the primary target of this procedure.

Rhytidectomy ("face lift"): facial rejuvenation by lifting and tightening the facial muscles and skin. Allows for correction of jowls, restoration of cheek bones, and tightening of the neck

Suction-assisted lipectomy ("liposuction"): removal of fat from the body. Can be performed under general anesthesia or with the patient awake.
